Why the name

“Marginalia”

The notes writers and scholars leave in the margins of a text.

This is that margin, built as an actual place: a retreat set down near Monadnock, NH for the length of a week, so the work you keep meaning to get to finally has room.

Before you pack the laptop

The practical questions.

If your question is more specific, send it with your dates. A real person—one of your hosts—will answer.

Where exactly will the retreat be located?

At a suitable campground near Jaffrey or Peterborough, New Hampshire. The exact site depends on your dates, hookup needs, availability, and campground approval. We confirm the location before you book.

Who books the campsite?

The reservation and payment remain in your name. You can book from our short list, or ask us to help research an appropriate site and walk you through the reservation.

Will I have reliable internet?

The retreat includes Starlink plus a mobile-hotspot backup. Starlink needs a clear view of the sky and the hotspot depends on cellular coverage, so we verify likely conditions for the proposed site rather than promising uninterrupted service everywhere.

Can two people work with real privacy?

Yes. The king-bedroom suite and rear flex studio create two distinct sleeping and working zones, supported by a full bath and a separate half bath. It works especially well for co-authors and accountability partners.

What should I bring?

Bring your work, personal items, groceries, outdoor layers, and any favorite desk setup. Linens, basic cookware, propane, setup, and the arrival walkthrough are included.

Can I stay fewer than seven nights?

No. Fall 2026 stays are booked in seven-night blocks because delivery and full setup are included. Choose 7, 14, 21, or 28 nights, subject to consecutive availability.

What is the cancellation policy?

Your written quote includes the retreat cancellation terms before any deposit is requested. Campground reservations follow the campground’s separate cancellation policy.
